The Municipal Institute "Ancient Plovdiv" was visited by UNESCO Assistant Director General Ernesto Ottone and the Head of the Europe Department at the World Heritage Center Berta de Sancristobal.
They visited the Episcopal Basilica of Philippopolis, the Odeon, the Roman Stadium and the Eastern Sector of the Roman Stadium, led by the Deputy Mayor Mr. Plamen Panov and the Director of the MI "Ancient Plovdiv" Assoc. Prof. Elena Kantareva-Decheva, Ph.D.
According to the Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv, this visit is extremely important for Plovdiv. "We are already at a stage where we have to promote the image of the city, to show that the local government puts culture and cultural heritage first" he told journalists.
